Nominations for PhD students to attend 60th meeting of Nobel Laureates in Lindau, Germany 2010

Nomination of young Australian scientists to attend the 2010 Meeting of Nobel Laureates in Lindau.

The Australian Academy of Science will be nominating three outstanding young Australian scientists, preferably in the final years of their PhD, to attend the 60th meeting of Nobel Laureates in Lindau, Germany in 2010. They have asked the ANS to nominate some students for them to consider. The meeting will be interdisciplinary, covering the fields of Medicine or Physiology, Chemistry and Physics (including closely related disciplines), and will be held from June 27 to July 2, 2010. Up to ten candidates will be selected by the Council for Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, with an even spread across the discilpines listed above. The successful candidates will receive a travel grant from the Academy of up to AUD$2,000 towards travel costs to Lindau. Accommodation and registration costs will be covered by the Council for Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings.
In addition, successful candidates are invited and expected to attend Science at the Shine Dome, an annual celebration of science held at the Academy of Science, Canberra, 5-7 May 2010. This will involve briefings for the selected young scientists by Fellows of the Academy prior to the Lindau meeting. A travel grant of up to $500 will be provided by the Academy to assist with travel and accommodation costs. The registration fee is covered by the Academy. Please provide completed nomination forms, along with the relevant supporting documentation.
Please return the completed nomination VIA EMAIL to: the ANS Secretary by September 20th. A shortlist of ANS nominations will then be sent to the Academy of Science for further consideration.

Nominations will be considered by an Academy of Science selection panel, and short-listed nominations will be recommended to the Council for Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings.
