The Centre for Translational Neuroscience and Mental Health: Schizophrenia Program has a unique multidisciplinary approach to understanding schizophrenia, with leading edge researchers working at the interface of clinical, cognitive, neurophysiological and neuroanatomical disciplines. We are seeking a PhD qualified researcher with knowledge of animal models of schizophrenia and associated cognitive impairments and experience in behavioural and/or electrophysiological assessment of rodents. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate strong communication skills and have the ability to work both independently or within a flexible team environment. They will be responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of the project as well a number of other research tasks.

The Department of Physiology is seeking to appoint a dynamic individual, wishing to pursue or further an academic career in biomedical/biological science, as Lecturer or Senior Lecturer on a continuing basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and enthusiastic academic to join a highly motivated team of teaching and research staff.
You will demonstrate a strong research record/potential, work at the leading edge of your field and have excellent teaching skills. You will make significant contributions to teaching at all levels, and maintain and develop research and professional activities.
You will:
- assist in the development of teaching material for web-based delivery,
- be proactive in unit and course development and in the introduction and development of new teaching methodologies and technologies, and
- be expected to teach within any of these programs as appropriate.
You will be expected to supervise honours and postgraduate research students and convene at least one Physiology unit.
This position could be filled by a person whose career entry point is commensurate with any of the 2 levels of Lecturer. As the successful applicant, you will be expected to teach Physiology, in one or more subjects and across various courses at the direction of the Head of Department.
The appointment will be made at a level appropriate to your qualifications, experience and in accordance with classification standards for each level.
This role is a full-time position; however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

As part of our strategic growth and development, we are seeking suitably qualified professionals for the position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The successful applicant will work within the Systems and Signalling research group led by A/Prof Ann Goodchild and be required to conduct an active research programme leading to understanding how higher brain regions that influence autonomic outflows are changed in different disease conditions.
POSITION TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct an active research programme in neurophysiology in conjunction with the team leader A/Prof Ann Goodchild. Research projects will be directed initially by the team leader however opportunity for developing an independent research focus within the interests of the group is encouraged. These interests are broadly categorised as signalling and systems neuroscience with a focus on how higher brain regions modulate a range of autonomic outflows under different disease conditions.
• Provide assistance both academic and technical for postgraduate students and other team members with in the research group.
• Tasks including writing and editing of manuscripts, grants, ethics applications and other reports as required.
