The Australia Brain Bee Challenge (ABBC) was started in Queensland in 2006 by Professor Linda Richards at the Queensland Brain Institute, University of Queensland. In 2006, 240 students participated in the ABBC and each year the number of students has increased. In 2014, there were more than 1500 Queensland students that completed Round 1 and they came from all regions of the state.
