White House Executive order restricting travel to the USA

The core of scientific exchange is the opportunity to attend scientific conferences or to present our work to colleagues in an open and free manner.  The US Government’s ban on travel to the USA by nationals of seven different countries affects scientists working in Australia and New Zealand who are dual nationals or nationals of any of these named countries.  These scientists are not able to attend scientific meetings or to travel to the USA for collaboration or to present seminars.  They cannot attend the Society for Neuroscience meeting.  The Australasian Neuroscience Society vehemently opposes this ban on travel and stands in solidarity with scientists from these countries, whether they reside in Australasia or elsewhere.

For those ANS members affected, please do not hesitate to contact me if there is anything that the ANS can do to support you. It is something that we hope never occurs at our borders.

ANS President, on behalf of ANS Council Executive
